Production Description

unHOWsed is a multi-disciplinary performance work about older women’s homelessness. The work spotlights real voices – strong and significant. It is a powerful piece that sees these women take centre stage, shining a light on the unexplored territory of lives lived on the edge. It is told through the lens of the personal and the intimate. It’s raw and emotional and most of all it’s real, direct and unashamedly non-apologetic. It strikes at the heart of the audience’s solar plexus. The experience is visceral and provocative. unHOWsed is an exciting, significant, and vibrant work.

In a series of poetic, non-linear, & true narratives, the women bare the emotional baggage that comes with homelessness. Yet, even though the stories reflect hardships, there is levity and humour throughout the piece. Their real voices are strong and significant – their experience didn’t break them – they claim their space and proclaim: I Am Here!
