Wandsworth Arts Fringe
Scenesaver is delighted to partner up with Wandsworth Arts Fringe to offer an additional platform to its wonderful artists.
WAF is an open-access fringe festival that shakes up South West London every year in May with an eclectic programme of performing and visual arts.
Like many of the best Fringe festivals, WAF started life as part of a curated festival (Wandsworth Arts Festival), with the open access element of the festival eventually evolving into something bigger and more beautiful, leaving the programmed part of the event behind.
As WAF approached its teens it grew bolder, braver, more rebellious. The Fringe has become known for daring artists and audiences alike to take a walk on the wild side. And in 2020, it took the form of a digital festival as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The WAF team and its artists had just four weeks to radically transform this year’s planned WAF 2020 from a jam-packed festival that was set to animate every corner of the borough and had been nine months in the making, into WAF in Your Living Room, an online festival that would entertain, inspire and comfort audiences stuck at home during the lockdown.
While 45% of audiences were Londoners, the WAF spirit travelled far and wide, with strong fanbases popping up in the US, France, Japan and Brazil.
WAF is the perfect opportunity to showcase your talent – Whether you’re a community arts group or an international superstar, we pride ourselves on being a testing ground for bold, experimental work that is both hyper-local and astonishingly international. Community-minded at heart, but always with big aspirations, WAF is a unique melting pot of creativity from both local and international artists.
