Full performance of the award-winning solo play written and performed by David Benson. Poor sound quality but it is the only recorded performance so uploaded for the historical record.
Pan Am Flight 103 was blown out of the sky on 21st December 1988, falling to earth on the small Scottish border town of Lockerbie and surrounding areas. Based upon the writings of and interviews with Dr. Jim Swire and researcher Peter Biddulph, the play tells the story of Swire’s continuing fight to discover the truth about who murdered his daughter Flora and 269 other people in the worst terrorist atrocity on UK soil.
The performance is not intended as an impersonation of Dr. Swire but an evocation of his character and his position regarding the atrocity.
This performance was recorded at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh during the 2010 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It won a Scotsman Fringe First award and was a finalist for the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award.
