“Boiling Frog” is a new play, written as a series of interlocking monologues, filmed on iPhones and streaming as a digital production. 19 year old Bella suffers PTSD trauma after witnessing the horrific Australian Black Summer Bushfires of 2019/20 whilst on her Gap Year. Returning home to the UK, how will she deal with her acute eco anxiety and heal her psychological wounds? Will her family be supportive – or not? And can she ever re-establish her difficult relationship with her father, now that her world has been turned upside down? For Bella, things will never be the same again.
The play contains references to themes such as the climate crisis, eco anxiety and related mental health issues, politics, the food industry, veganism versus meat and dairy, and Extinction Rebellion/protest movements. Running time approx 1 hour 30 mins.
Cast:
Olivia Maiden – Bella
Judith Eveson – Susan
