Just Write – Scenesaver New Playwriting Competition

A competition to find the most talented and exciting new playwrights.

The prize

There will be six winners each of whom will win 100 and their play  will be performed by professional actors at London’s White Bear Theatre in March 2023 and they will each win a 100 cash prize.

Who can enter

This is an international competition, and the competition is open to anyone, aged 17 or over. You do not have to be resident in the UK but you must meet the criteria as set out below.

Importantly you must not have ever had any work written by you, either alone or in collaboration with others, performed in a run at a public venue*.

Submissions to this competition are now closed.

*We will consider work that has been performed in a public reading or scratch night so long as you inform of this.

** The stage is 24 square metres, and fully equipped for light, and also sound projection, but the space is not suitable for a performance that relies on a complex set. Minimal, standard, props will be available. If you require a specific prop for your performance, bear in mind, if you are one of the winners, you will be responsible for providing this prop and arranging transport of this item to and from the theatre.
