Telling Tales is presented as an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure experience including six brand new short plays. We asked muck + rumble’s Rhiannon Handy about its digital format.
“Telling Tales was always intended to be a night out at the theatre. 6 new plays, chosen from anonymous submissions, each paired with a professional director and cast. Covid-19 then, obviously, threw a massive spanner in the works. We knew we didn’t want that to stop us raising money for Roald Dahl’s Amazing Children’s Charity, or stop us making theatre, so we started investigating interesting ways we could present each tale.
Twine was perfect as it meant our audience could choose their own path through each story, and our directors and cast were incredible at adapting to the circumstances. We’ve been able to reach an even wider audience by bringing our work online, not to mention hopefully providing a bit of light relief for a World very much in need of it. We’ve been absolutely thrilled with the response so far and are continuing to raise money for the charity while the plays are still available to watch.”
